Adult Copyright Company Sues BitTorrent Users | Copyright Litigation Attorney Blog

Anandtech reports that Adult Copyright Company, through its attorney Kenneth J. Ford, has sued 9,729 Bittorrent users for copyright infringement.  Like Copyright Enforcement Group and US Copyright Group before it, Adult Copyright Company is a content monitoring company that tracks the distribution of copyright protected adult movies over peer to peer networks.  Kenneth J. Ford, copyright litigation attorney for the content creators that have employed Adult Copyright Company, has sued over 17,000 file sharers in under two weeks.

These copyright infringement lawsuits are typically filed against John Doe defendants.  Once the lawsuit is filed and the plaintiff can lawfully take discovery, the plaintiff will then issue a subpoena to determine the identity of the IP address that was collected by Adult Copyright Company.  From there, the plaintiff will issue a settlement demand or amend the complaint to proceed with a copyright infringement lawsuit against the newly named defendant.
